about

The piece is based on a messy recording that i made more than 10 years ago in Connecticut. On Easter Sunday of 2002 Alvin Lucier took Matt Bauder and myself to a pond with peepers in a forest in Connecticut. Peepers are small North American frogs that sing a high pitched song during their mating season in early spring and they are among the first to announce the end of winter. It was a bright and yellow day, one of the first warm days of the year. At the time I thought my recording was completely useless, due to the constant sound of traffic in the background and all the unwanted artefacts in the foreground. But now i like all the noise.... and the plastic spoon in the picture.
