about

This is a double contact mic recording of hundreds of little grasses blown by the wind against two wires from a collapsed fence that was pinched against a rock by the side of the road near a small Loch.

It was recorded with two JrF contact mics and a Sound Devices MixPre 3. I put a single mic on each wire, so the effect isn't exactly stereo, since different parts of the grasses hit each wire differently, but it should be listened to in headphones to get the effect.

This track is the raw recording plus in embellishments of the same sound processed at 4x and 1/8th speeds. In short, then, this recording explores a single wind through grass as heard by two wires at three speeds.
