JrF contact microphone recording of the main windows of the re-constructed gallery on the site of Josef Sudek's original studio in Prague.

the photographic work of Sudek has been an interest of mine for many years and on a visit to Prague for a residency at Skolska 28 in 2007 I had the opportunity to spend a night in the Sudek gallery recording its spaces & structures. The famous cycle of images by Sudek 'from the studio window' was the starting point for a series of recordings of the windows of the gallery themselves, acting as resonating panels reflecting their surroundings.

'view' - the obvious reference to the Sudek images underpins the complex aspect of our visual culture that imposes sight based terminology on sounds. as a word 'view' is one that I find more interesting when freed from its standard definition, as indeed most words are - they are sounds in & of themselves and 'view' to me can be a sound word.

a bonus track recording with conventional microphones of the main gallery space has been added to this digital re-issue.
